چکیده

The optimization between the average received power and the theoretically achievable average channel capacity per user (in the Shannon sense) of a hybrid direct-sequence/fast frequency hopping codedivision multiple-access (DS/FFH-CDMA) cellular system, when operating in a Rayleigh fading environment, is presented. The analysis leads to a novel-closed form expression for the optimal average received power value based on the maximization of the achieved spectral efficiency, estimated in terms of the available average channel capacity per user. Finally, respective numerical results are presented. Key-Words: Hybrid CDMA systems, Cellular systems, Channel capacity, Rayleigh fading.

Average Channel Capacity for a Power and Rate Adaptive DS/FFH CDMA Cellular System

The average channel capacity (in the Shannon sense) per user of a hybrid cellular directsequence/fast frequency hopping code-division multipleaccess (DS/FFH-CDMA) system operating in a Rayleigh fading environment is examined. The analysis covers the downlink of a cellular system assuming a static model of operation and leads to a novel expression for the average channel capacity available to ea...

On the Statistics of the Channel Capacity for a DS/FFH-CDMA System

In this paper, a constant total system’s allocated bandwidth hybrid direct-sequence/fast frequency hopping code-division multiple-access (DS/FFH-CDMA) cellular system, when operating in a Rayleigh fading environment, is examined. The described analysis leads to a novel-closed form expression for the probability density function (pdf) of the channel capacity per user, which relates the pdf of th...

Open-loop power control error in cellular CDMA overlay systems

Adaptive power control has widely been used in DS/CDMA systems to overcome the so-called “near-far” problem. This paper studies the adaptive open-loop power control of a cellular CDMA system, which is overlaid in the downlink by a narrowband signal. The effects of downlink power allocation schemes to power control error in the presence of narrowband interference are analyzed. In order to get a ...

Spectral efficiency for a hybrid DS/FH code-division multiple-access system in cellular mobile radio

The spectral efficiency of a hybrid cellular direct-sequence/frequency hopping code-division multiple-access (DS/FH-CDMA) system operating in a Rayleigh-fading environment is examined. In this work, spectral efficiency is evaluated in terms of the theoretically achievable channel capacity (in the Shannon sense) per user, on the condition that this is estimated in an average sense. The analysis ...
